Step into Middle Earth on this exclusive experience

Leave the tourist trail behind and walk in the footsteps of Bilbo Baggins on the spectacular Earnslaw Burn. Alpine Luxury Tours has exclusive landing rights in this wonderful location, meaning you can bask in the tranquillity without tourists competing for photos.

Your once in a lifetime adventure begins as we transport you to your privately chartered helicopter. Prepare to be astounded by jaw-dropping scenery as we fly over the sheer cliff faces of Moonlight Saddle and Richardson Mountains to Mount Earnslaw.

After landing in the valley, you will set off on foot through native tussock fields and rolling high country plains. Together with your local guide, you will Watch the landscape transform into glaciers and plunging waterfalls as we trace a narrow path forged by wild White Tail deer. Learn about rich local history, flora and fauna and keep an eye out for wildlife as we ascend towards the head of the valley.

As we reach the towering waterfalls and hanging glacier of the Earnslaw Burn we will pause to take in the surreal landscape around us. Tolkien fans can walk under the Middle Earth waterfalls of Rivendell, while those who haven’t seen the film will be astonished by the raw beauty of these vast alpine plains, glaciers and waterfalls.

With our private helicopter waiting for us on the valley floor, we’ll climb 1,000 metres past the falls and blue ice of the hanging glacier before flying across Lake Wakatipu towards the Humboldt Mountains.

After landing, you will be transferred back to your accommodation in Queenstown; finishing a day that you will remember for years to come.

A fantastic 2 day guided hike cycle and wine tasting

2 of us have had a great couple of days being guided from Queenstown by Jamie . Day 1 we had a hike and great picnic lunch and then cycle . Very professional and well organised . Day 2 had 5 wineries to visit . Jamie was incredibly knowledgable and had arranged super , small boutique wineries for us to visit . So organised and we were made to few very welcome at all the cellar doors we visited Overall - highly recommend this Co - a superb addition to our stay in Queenstown

Great Day (Queenstown Wine and Cardrona Distillery Tour)

Our family of four booked a wine tour with Lee in late December 2019. Lee was extremely flexible and responsive to our group - his kind and friendly demeanor made the tour seem more like a day out with a friend rather than a tour. The tour (ie Lee) was full of interesting information, laughs and friendly exchange coupled with excellent locations to visit - the day was excellent from start to finish. Thank you, Lee!!1

My husband and I did the "Untouched Heli and Hike Tour" and it was absolutely the highlight of our entire trip. The crew was is top notch, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend any tour which will take your to the Middle Earth Waterfalls, this by far was the most amazing place / landscape i have ever seen. You got chills walking through this area! It was out of this world! Thanks again Lee for the amazing tour! If we are ever in Queenstown again, I know we'll be in touch!

Amazing trip to Milford Sound

Steve was a fantastic host and driver. Every part of the trip to Milford ran to time. Steves timing was impeccable resulting in crowd free stops at spectacular stops along the way. The drive included very informative commentary about features along the way as well as interesting history and modern interruptions related to NZ. The lunch provided was delicious. I would recommend alpine luxury tours to anyone wanting the personal touch to a tour whilst being kept informed along the way and have a bit of a laugh.
