Wonder at dazzling iceberg lakes, sky-scraping peaks and spectacular glaciers.

Begin your adventure with a scenic drive through the rugged Kawarau Gorge. Sit back and enjoy constantly evolving landscapes through the dramatic Lindis Pass from comfort of your own Land Rover Discovery or Mercedes van. Never miss a photo opportunity with flexibility to stop, jump out of the car and breathe in the crisp mountain air wherever and whenever you like.

Discover picturesque Lake Pukaki, a glacial lake that’s famed for its milky turquoise colour, before arriving at spectacular Aoraki/Mount Cook. Aoraki means Cloud Piercer and its peak reaches 3,724 metres (12,218 feet), making it New Zealand’s highest mountain.

We begin our hike in the renowned and sacred Tōpuni area of the Hooker Valley. Learn about rich Māori history and the ancient legends that surround this region as we traverse across the first of three swing bridges, soaking up views across Mueller Lake and Mount Sefton.

Winding through the Hooker Valley, keep an eye out for the Mount Cook buttercup (the world’s biggest buttercup) and local wildlife including the cheeky kea (New Zealand's native and the world's only alpine parrot), chamois and deer. Enjoy sweeping alpine views, snow-capped mountain peaks and vast open valleys sprawling with alpine tussocks before arriving at the terminal glacier lake.

Here we pause to soak up views of majestic glaciers, towering Aoraki/Mount Cook and the spectacular Southern Alps before returning along the same track.

Our local guides love being able to tailor each tour to suit your interests, tastes and abilities. Contact us to learn more about this experience, one of the top five day hikes in New Zealand.

Great Day (Queenstown Wine and Cardrona Distillery Tour)

Our family of four booked a wine tour with Lee in late December 2019. Lee was extremely flexible and responsive to our group - his kind and friendly demeanor made the tour seem more like a day out with a friend rather than a tour. The tour (ie Lee) was full of interesting information, laughs and friendly exchange coupled with excellent locations to visit - the day was excellent from start to finish. Thank you, Lee!!1

Tour of a Lifetime! (Untouched back country heli tour

My husband and I did the "Untouched Heli and Hike Tour" and it was absolutely the highlight of our entire trip. The crew was is top notch, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend any tour which will take your to the Middle Earth Waterfalls, this by far was the most amazing place / landscape i have ever seen. You got chills walking through this area! It was out of this world! Thanks again Lee for the amazing tour! If we are ever in Queenstown again, I know we'll be in touch!

Amazing trip to Milford Sound

Steve was a fantastic host and driver. Every part of the trip to Milford ran to time. Steves timing was impeccable resulting in crowd free stops at spectacular stops along the way. The drive included very informative commentary about features along the way as well as interesting history and modern interruptions related to NZ. The lunch provided was delicious. I would recommend alpine luxury tours to anyone wanting the personal touch to a tour whilst being kept informed along the way and have a bit of a laugh.

Wow!!! What an outstanding day

We have fallen in love with Queenstown after this tour. Lee is so knowledgeable and passionate about the area and adding his passion for gold mining and vast historical knowledge of the area we had an unbelievable personal Queenstown experience. We drove down into Skippers canyon and were surprised with a delicious morning tea at the school house. This was followed by panning for gold at deep creek and a stone skimming competition. Both Lee and Paul were so amazing with our young children (both pre school) that this was their highlight (as well as ours) of the trip. Highly recommend Alpine Luxury Tours to anyone. AMAZING........
