Begin your journey with a spectacular scenic drive to Glenorchy. Renowned for being “one of the most beautiful drives in the world”, the road hugs the turquoise shores of Lake Wakatipu as it winds through valleys and around mountain peaks.
Relax in the comfort of your Land Rover Discovery or Mercedes van and enjoy the flexibility of stopping wherever and whenever you like for photo opportunities or rest stops.
The beech forest signals the beginning of Mount Aspiring National Park, where we start walk along the renowned Routeburn Track. Your personal hiking guide will navigate you through the ancient forest that rests alongside the picturesque Routeburn River before heading up to Bridal Veil Waterfall.
Using a swing bridge, we’ll traverse across the roaring canyon below and make our way towards the tranquil Routeburn Flats. Pausing to take in the vast open wilderness of these alpine flats, we’ll stop to enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch, while learning about the rich Maori history, birdlife, flora and fauna.
If you’re feeling adventurous, we can continue hiking through more spectacular beech forest up towards Routeburn Falls Hut, pausing to take in breathtaking views across the Routeburn Flats and Humboldt Mountains.
