Upon being picked up from your accomodation, sit back and enjoy one of the world’s most scenic vineyard journeys as your personal guide transports you through the picturesque Kawarau Gorge in the comfort of your Land Rover Discovery or Mercedes van.

Your driver will first take you to Bannockburn, the heart of the Central Otago wine region. Visit the charming town centre before indulging in a wine tasting at one of the region’s top wineries, Mt Difficulty, perched high on the famed Felton Road.

Enjoying lunch at their winery restaurant with dramatic views across Lake Dunstan and the Cromwell Basin, you have the option of selections from their locally-sourced menu to enjoy with your choice of wine, or a decadent cheese board with the chef’s selection of local cheese and artisan accompaniments before continuing our adventure.

Next, we arrive at the multi-award-winning Cloudy Bay winery for a private 45-minute tasting in the exclusive Lakeview Room. Enjoy this unique opportunity to meet the people behind the wine, and delve into their fascinating winemaking philosophy. Here we have the option to add a private vineyard tour or extended two-hour wine tasting for those who would like a fully immersive experience.

Next we venture into Gibbston wine region, known as the ‘Valley of the Vines’. Nestled between rugged schist mountains and the rocky Kawarau River gorge, you will sample more world-class Pinot Noir before enjoying a scenic drive back towards Queenstown.

Queenstown and Central Otago Exclusive Wine Tour

We were booked on a Heli Tour of the Winery region in Central Otago, but due to the snow coming in, the weather had taken over our plans, and we hit the Vineyards on the road. Lee, was our guide for the day, and we all just got on famously. On tour to the breathtaking Cloudy Bay Tasting Shed for a Private Tasting, Lee didn't miss any information that was interesting along the way, about the beautiful region from Queenstown to Northburn. Lee seems to have great contacts and relationships with all the vineyards we visited, which made us well even more welcome. Our highlights were the breathtaking views from Cloudy Bay Tasting Shed and their wines, delicious lunch with a view and the end of our trip was with the friendly winemakers at Mt Rosa Wines, where we shared flavour some wines and lots of stories and jokes. When we return to Queenstown, we will definitely have Lee and his team create us a day out again.
