After being picked up by your driver and guide, begin your adventure with a scenic drive over the spectacular Crown Range towards Cardrona. Enjoying the constantly evolving landscapes through rugged gorges and vast alpine plains, from the comfort of your own private Mercedes vehicle. Never miss a photo opportunity with the flexibility to stop, jump out of the car and breathe in the crisp mountain air wherever and whenever you like.
This tour is designed for you to discover the best-kept secrets of the region, starting with the remote Cardrona Distillery. Opened in December 2015, the distillery has already notched up awards for its gin. Witness the magic as its spirits are made from scratch on site, and soak up the sights and smells as malt is milled, mashed, fermented, distilled and matured. After learning about the process, you will sample whiskey, gin, vodka and liqueurs for yourself.
On the way back to Queenstown, we stop at New Zealand’s most photographed building – the historic Cardrona Hotel. You have the option to enjoy lunch here before an afternoon of sampling the finest wines in the region.
We then venture into the Gibbston Valley wine region, the ‘Valley of the Vines’ nestled between rugged schist mountains and the rocky Kawarau River gorge. Here we delight in more world-class Pinot Noir at some of the best wineries and cellar doors in the region.
We’re lucky to have some of the best gourmet dining, award-winning vineyards and charming local cafés in New Zealand. We can tailor lunch options to suit every taste.
Cardrona Distillery
The menu focuses on contemporary, local and seasonal produce, resulting in a beautifully creative offering of small plates. The menu changes daily to keep things fresh and exciting for you, our visitors. Freshly shucked oysters, Ora King Salmon and seasonal vegetables are commonly featured.
Cardrona Hotel
Situated on the spectacular Crown Range road, this historic hotel offers comforting pub favourites with a twist, using seasonal produce from the region.
Mt Rosa Wines
A relaxed, rural setting nestled amidst rows of vines, surrounded by mountains and dramatic mountain landscapes. Delicious locally sourced fare to complement the wines and the views…and the good jokes!
