Begin your adventure with a picturesque drive south of Queenstown, winding your way alongside the turquoise shores of Lake Wakatipu and the towering Remarkable mountain range. Sit back and enjoy stunning vistas as we climb the Devil’s Staircase Road towards Kingston and Staircase Creek.
There’s plenty of spots to stop, jump out of the car and breathe in crisp mountain air and take photos along the way.
Your hike begins on the breathtaking Loch Linnhe Station, a 11,000ha sheep and cattle farm that spans from the Hector Range to the Nevis River. Alpine Luxury Tours has partnered with Loch Linnhe Station to provide this unique and exclusive hiking experience; allowing you the opportunity to wander through spectacular alpine landscapes and discover cascading waterfalls without crowds of tourists competing for photos.
Expansive views are all around you as your personal guide explains the rich history of the station and points out local flora and fauna including kea, the world’s only alpine parrot, and kererū, our native wood pigeon. Keep an eye out for some of the station’s cattle and wild deer.
Following in the footsteps of early settlers, we make our way towards the cascading Staircase Creek, where your local guide describes how ingenious gold miners used the waterway to carry water for their equipment in the valley.
Learn about the rich history and current farming practices of Loch Linnhe Station as we make our way back along the trail and depart for Queenstown.
