Lee Saunders Founder & Director
Lee is the Founder and Director of Alpine Luxury Tours, driven by an enduring passion for sharing the beauty and diversity of New Zealand with visitors from around the world. Having grown up in and around Queenstown and travelled extensively throughout the country, Lee possesses an exceptional depth of local knowledge and an authentic connection to the land.
Raised on a sheep and deer farm in the lower South Island, Lee developed a strong appreciation for New Zealand’s natural environment from an early age. In 1986, his family moved to Queenstown when his father began working on the construction of the iconic Clyde Dam. A keen sportsman during his school years in Dunedin, Lee played rugby and rowed competitively before embarking on a varied career that included forestry, road construction, and managing a large bitumen sealing crew in Australia.
In 2012, Lee returned to New Zealand to pursue his true passion creating unforgettable experiences that showcase the very best of Aotearoa. His vision for Alpine Luxury Tours was to combine authentic local insight with exceptional service and comfort, offering guests a uniquely personal connection to the country he calls home.
Today, Lee lives in Queenstown with his wife Dani,rugby loving young son, and their energetic black Labrador Rua. When he’s not guiding guests or designing new experiences, he enjoys exploring New Zealand’s great outdoors continuing to find new stories to share along the way.
