Be transported to another world on this full-day Rob Roy Glacier Heli hike in Mount Aspiring National Park, accompanied by a highly trained personal guide. You’ll begin your adventure by soaring high over the spectacular Crown Range through Cardrona Valley, Lake Wānaka, Matukituki Valley and into Mount Aspiring National Park. Sit back and enjoy constantly evolving landscapes through rugged gorges and vast alpine plains.
You’ll land at Raspberry Flats, where the hike begins along the picturesque West Matukituki River across local farmland where sheep and other animals can be spotted.
After crossing a swing bridge over the clear Rob Roy Stream, the trail ascends steeply, you will wander through ancient beech forests and catch glimpses of Rob Roy Glacier as the dense forest clears, offering stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains. Enjoy the cascading waterfalls and thriving ferns and mosses that surround you before the forest gives way to alpine vegetation and spectacular views of the hanging glacier.
The highlight is the viewpoint overlooking the impressive Rob Roy Glacier, framed by rugged peaks and cascading waterfalls. You’ll take a break here to soak in the grandeur and tranquillity of this pristine environment before the return journey allows you to appreciate the beautiful landscapes from different angles, making this moderate hike a memorable adventure in Mount Aspiring National Park.
Heading back towards Raspberry Flats where you’ll meet your private helicopter concluding your Rob Roy Glacier Heli Hike for a scenic descent across alpine high-country before being returned to your accommodation.
