Set on the tranquil northern shores of Lake Hayes, this intimate half-day experience offers a meaningful connection to the people, stories, and living culture of Tāhuna(Queenstown). Hosted in partnership with Mana Tāhuna and tangata whenua- the people of the land, guests are welcomed through a powerful whakatau (welcoming ceremony), including haka and waiata, setting the tone for a shared cultural exchange.
Guided by knowledgeable hosts, the experience continues with a gentle exploration of the surrounding landscape, where kōrero (storytelling) brings to life the deep relationship between people and place. Guests are invited to take part in native tree planting, contributing to the restoration and future wellbeing of this special environment.
The journey concludes with a traditionally prepared hāngī (a traditional Maori method of cooking food using heated rocks buried in a underground oven), where flavours and hospitality come together in a relaxed, communal setting that provides the opportunity to reflect, connect, and share.
